The Dallas Farmers Market has been around since 1941 and has prevailed as a staple in our community since then. There are over 12 restaurants inside the market and over 20 vendors outside who sell fresh produce, baked goods, clothing and other local-made products. Also, as we enter the fall season, “The Shed” (outdoor section of the market) has a pumpkin patch with 25 different varieties of pumpkins! Talk about a one-stop destination!

The Farmers Market is the absolute most perfect fall activity for a Saturday or Sunday around lunchtime with friends. Walk around, shop, eat and enjoy this beautiful weather at the heart of downtown!

Here are my recommendations:
The Market is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 7 pm. The outdoor section is ONLY open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9-5 pm and 10-5 pm. This is why I recommend going on the weekend to get the full experience! The perfect time to go is around 2 pm. This will give you plenty of time to walk around the entire area while missing the 12 o’clock lunchtime rush hour.Divide and conquer! Bring a hungry group of friends so you can try as many of the restaurants as possible. Surrounding the farmers market are multiple plant stores. So, if you have a green thumb, definitely visit them!

Here are my top picks
Start with a charcuterie board from Scardello Artisan Cheese. We chose the largest option available and added prosciutto.

Al Pastor tacos from Taqueria La Ventana. Their queso is also phenomenal!

Shrimp Alfredo and jalapeno crab bisque from Rex’s Seafood Market. I have also tried their oysters, seafood nachos and hush puppies- all so good!

Finish with vanilla sprinkle cake pops from Cupcake & Co. There was also a red velvet cake pop option and a ton of delicious-looking muffins and cupcakes.

Take a break from your typical Saturday/Sunday brunch spots and visit the Dallas Farmer’s Market for amazing food, pumpkin picking and local shopping!
